Art Opening: Made in America by Jack Alvarez

February 12 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join us for a special 2nd Saturday Opening:

Made in America: Portraits of American Blues & Jazz

By Jack Alvarez

Bitter-sweet, might describe best the music produced by these true American artists; for all of us to experience, enjoy  and at times, struggle to relate to or comprehend.

These trail blazers spent their lives pushing the limits on and off the stage, in the spotlights as well as in the shadows, genius and passion with a pure musical insight.

As a longtime follower of jazz and Blues, I have shared an on-going admiration with the spontaneity and free-form parallels that this music and art share. My intention with this series of paintings, is to offer a personal perspective on the complete vision of their craft, their struggles and successes, but more importantly, place a personal spotlight on the music and the legacies these amazing American artists left behind.

Ultimately, these musical giants proved that they were, “flowers that somehow managed to germinate and bloom, sometimes, in the harshest of storms.” – Jack Alvarez

Jack Alvarez is a multimedia artist from Sacramento, California.
